Testing and fixing answers

Test your assistant before going live

Ask real customer questions in a private test chat and fix weak answers before customers see them.

Before you go live, check how your assistant answers the questions your customers actually ask.

Open the test chat

Open your assistant and choose Test your assistant in the sidebar. You'll see:

  • Chat window preview: roughly how the chat looks on your website.
  • Test conversation: a private chat with your assistant.

You can also use the smaller Test your assistant box on the General settings page. It uses your saved settings, so click Save Changes first if you've just edited something.

Ask questions

Type a question, or tap one of the sample questions under the chat. Chatzora writes these sample questions from your own business information, so they're a quick way to check what your assistant has learned.

Try:

  • Your most common questions, such as prices, opening hours, delivery and returns
  • Questions phrased the way customers write, including short or misspelled ones
  • A question your information doesn't cover, to see your "doesn't know" reply
  • "Can I speak to a person?" In a test chat the assistant tells you it would ask your team for help. No alert is sent.

What test chats don't do

  • They don't appear in Conversations or the review queue.
  • They don't use your monthly messages. There is a cap of 200 test questions a day.
  • They don't capture leads or send alerts to you, Slack or Discord.

When an answer is wrong or missing

  1. Open Knowledge Base and add the missing information. A Q&A source is the quickest fix for a single question.
  2. Wait until the source shows Ready.
  3. Ask the question again.

If the assistant often says it doesn't know even though the information is there, go to General → Advanced settings and lower How sure your assistant must be before answering a little. If it answers questions it shouldn't, raise it.

Go live

The Go live button in the setup checklist unlocks once you have at least one ready source and your assistant has answered at least one test question from your information (a "doesn't know" reply doesn't count). After you go live, keep an eye on the review queue for questions it couldn't answer.
